I'm Jan Boroewitsch, a filmmaker and photographer based in Berlin.

FILM, VIDEO & CINEMATOGRAPHY

I focus mainly on camera work, especially for documentary projects.

With my background in editing, directing and motion design and my network of other specialised freelancers, I can offer my clients the complete video production process from idea and concept to shooting and all the way to postproduction and final delivery.

From multi award winning short films to social media videos, from weekly journalistic formats to documentary feature films, the first years of my career have lead me to work in a broad variety of productions. Productions I have worked on have been shown in cinemas, television, on festival and online. Working as a "one-man-band", in smaller teams or as part of a big crew, I am able to adapt to each project's individual requirements.

As a cinematographer and camera operator I've worked with systems from ARRI, RED, Sony, Blackmagic, Canon, Panasonic and Fujifilm as well as with super 8 film. I own a Sony FX6 with lenses and accessories which you can book with me.

STILL PHOTOGRAPHY

My job is to create images that capture the essence of a moment and tell a story. This applies for still photography as much as for filmmaking. As a photographer I work both for clients and free projects. Most of my works reflect my passion for traveling, nature and outdoor sports as well as for human connection.

As a service I offer portrait photography, travel photography and event photography.

My photo and interview project "me and my toy", that explores the meaning of play in the life of adults, was exhibited at the 48 Stunden Neukölln art festival 2023.

HOW I WORK

To me the creative process is about connecting with people and ideas in a constant search for new perspectives, broadening both the creators horizon as well as the audience’s. Working in film and photo is all about teamwork, lifelong learning and being inspired over and over again, all with the aim to create something that inspires others. A process that is exhilarating and humbling at the same time.

My motto is: “Take your job serious and yourself with humour.“

I love learning languages and speak German, English and Spanish fluently as well as some French and Portuguese and just enough Italian and Norwegian to politely order an espresso in the south and a cinnamon roll in the north.
